Grade K-6 Rapid Screening Kits info
Dear Holy Cross School Community members:
This information is intended for Grade K-6 only!
December 17, 2021
Dear K-6 Parents/Guardians;
The Province of Manitoba has secured a supply of rapid screening test kits for home use by parents for their children aged 5 to 11 years during the Christmas Break. Each elementary school will be supplied with a significant, but limited, supply of tests for their K to 6 students. There is no cost to the school nor the parents for these tests.
The use of these screening tests is entirely optional, and no test results information will be collected or required by the school. As we will have a limited supply of the tests, we are asking all parents of K-6 children to advise us if they are NOT interested in having a test kit sent home with their child. It is important that test kits are sent home with those families who will use the tests. If you will not use a testing kit for your K-6 child(ren), please email that information to email@example.com by Monday, December 20, 2021.
Holy Cross School hasn’t received any student testing kits. The Province of Manitoba will begin sending student rapid screening test kits to schools on December 20, 2021. If there are more requested screening testing kits than there are supplies, the province has assured schools that they will address any tests shortages that may occur. Families not receiving a screening testing kit prior to the Christmas break will receive a kit in the new year.
The screening testing kits will come with detailed instructions, be simple to use, contain no hazardous materials, are not damaged by short exposure to cold (such as in transit home in your child’s backpack) The tests are not acceptable for use in the testing of unvaccinated students ages 12 and up, as required for participation in indoor extra-curricular sports.
Prayers for everyone in our school community and in the world in these challenging times.
Ms. Rachael Andrew
