Principal's Message

Dear Holy Cross School Students and Parents!

Warm greetings and welcome back to another exciting 2019-2020 school year. I am positive that all of you had an opportunity to relax, enjoy the beautiful summer weather and more importantly found time to visit family members or close friends.
The staff and I look forward to working with all families and students and wish everyone success this academic year. I wish to acknowledge everyone's assistance that made this return possible: Holy Cross School Board, Parent Advisory Council (PAC), all Staff at Holy Cross School and a special recognition is given to my Administrative Assistant, Mrs. Erin Dietrich and Secretary, Mrs. Jill Anderson.
Holy Cross is a Pre-K through grade 8 school with an enrolment in 2019-2020 of 435 students. Because of our excellent programs, academic innovations and strong leadership it ranks our institution in the top of the Catholic Schools in Manitoba.  All of us at Holy Cross School will closely work with you to ensure that your child’s journey is academically challenging, positive and safe because we believe that your child is the " the next generation of young Christian Leaders".
This year at Holy Cross School, three new teachers and one educational assistant have joined our academic institution. They are as follows: Mr. Dennis Barczak, Grade 5(B), Mrs. Elleni Alevizos, Grade 5(A), Mr. Greg Cooper, Music/Band, Mrs. Susie De Santis, Ed. Assistant.  
A special thank you to all of our school partners, parents, volunteers, students and staff for your cooperation, dedication to help reach Holy Cross Schools ideals. The staff and I look forward to working with all new families and students and wish everyone success this academic year.

Reminder TOP MARKS will be set up in the cafeteria during the BBQ to do returns and exchanges.

Please call the school office by 9:00 a.m. if your child is going to be late or absent, and please remind your son/daughter to sign in at the office if they are late.  

Students must be in the proper school uniform.  PLEASE LABEL ALL ARTICLES OF CLOTHING WITH YOUR CHILD'S NAME.  This includes Grades 3-8 gym clothing as well.  Students that are not in proper uniform will have a note sent home the first time, the second time the student will have to call home for replacement clothing.  Remember all clothing MUST be purchased through Top Marks.

Uniforms may be ordered online at with our school code HOL01.
September's Harvest Collection is for Pork & Beans or Canned Spaghetti.  Donations can be brought to the school office.

Before 7:00 AM No supervision provided.
7:00 AM – 8:20 AM Before School program hours. Unless students are enrolled in the Before School program, they should arrive at the school no earlier than 8:00 AM.
8:00 AM – 8:20 AM School open to receive pupils. Supervision provided.
8:20 AM – 3:00 PM Regular school hours. Supervision provided.
3:00 PM – 3:30 PM School open for pickup of pupils. Supervision provided.
3:00 PM – 5:30 PM After School program hours. Unless students are enrolled in the After School program, they should be picked up no later than 3:30 PM.
A kind reminder, should you have any outstanding fees, please bring your account up to date as soon as possible.  We accept any form of payment (cash, cheque, debit, credit cards).  FYI - we can take credit cards over the phone if you are unable to make it into the office.


Tryouts for the Holy Cross School Volleyball teams will be held on the following dates:

Girls Tryouts: Monday, September 9th and Monday, September 16th
Boys Tryouts: Wednesday, September 11th and Wednesday September 18th

All tryouts will take place in the Holy Cross Gym from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Students are expected to attend both tryout dates. If a student is unavailable for a tryout date they must contact one of their coaches directly.

Boys’ Coaches: Ms. Alevizos, Mr.Ciric and Ms.Chyzzy 


If you have gently used uniforms to donate, we are happy to receive them at the office.  The Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) will once again be holding a Used Uniform Sale.


Holy Cross School's Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings are held the last Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m.  All are welcome, and PAC is always looking for new members.  The PAC AGM Meeting will be held on September 24th at 7:00 p.m.  Please come out and support us!


School Board meetings are held in the staff room on the third Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m.  An invitation is extended to all parents to come out and participate in the meetings.  New members are always welcome.  The first meeting of the new school year is on September 19th.
