7RC was in the Christmas Spirit!
Our social studies class was busy this December with social justice action.  We visited the Christmas Cheer Board and packed 360 hampers in 90 minutes.  The conveyer belt brought a box down the rollers and each of us packed an item. Those boxes were stuffed with great food for the holidays.  We also sponsored several events in our school.  Our Noodles for Noel campaign brought in hundreds of packages of macaroni, spaghetti, and pasta and, mama mia, what generous families we have at Holy Cross!  These donations went to the Holy Cross Food Bank.  The 4E class won a Christmas snack for excellent participation!  We also hosted a best dressed class contest with all donations going to the Christmas Cheer Board and we raised $625.35!  From antlers to sparkles to ugly sweaters to a full dress suit, 7RC won the day and earned a “No Uniform Day” for their efforts.  Thank you Holy Cross families for helping us make the world a better place!
2019-2020 Holy Cross School Re-Registration packages will be sent home shortly.  Please be advised, that

in order to secure your spot.  If we do not receive your Re-Registration forms along with the registration fee by January 31st, 2020, your child's spot may be given away to a new registrant on the waiting list, so please be sure to get them in on time!

Dear Holy Cross School families,
Soon your child will be taking part in an exciting school event- a Science fair. For Grades 4-8 it will be on April 14th, 2020 and Science expo for Grades K-4 will be on April 23rd, 2020. Winners of Holy Cross School will be competing at the Bison Regional Science Fair where they can earn a free trip to Canada Wide Science Fair. This year Canada Wide Science Fair will be in Edmonton from May 9-15, 2020. More details will be given to the participants as the time persists.

Science Fair Display Boards can be purchased from the office and cost is $4 per board. Students can do an individual project or with a partner.

Science offers children experiences in exploring beyond the classroom to understand more about their world. Investigating a selected Science topic in detail can open up new vistas and a new appreciation for not only this planet but the words beyond.

I would like to invite you to work along with your child as he or she selects, investigates, and reports on an appropriate area of Science. With your interest and encouragement, your child can develop the skills and attitudes he or she needs to make this project a valuable experience. But do encourage your child to do the most, if not all, of the work. Parents sometimes want to build an entire project, to make it “perfect”. It is more important that your child wrestle with problems and try to solve them, because learning is in the doing. Guide your child whenever and wherever you can, but let the final project reflect your child’s individual effort and design.

Remember your child’s success in our science fair will not be measured by ribbons, trophies, or certificates. Your child will succeed by learning and understanding more about Science and how scientists work. Awards are secondary. The real goal of the Science Fair is stimulating your child’s curiosity about the world.

Please read the Science Fair Handbook with your child and sign the necessary forms. Let me know if you'd like more information on creating a successful science fair project. I look forward to your participation in our upcoming science fair. Please call or email anytime with your questions and suggestions. Let’s work together so that our Science fair will be a memorable and pleasant experience for your child.
