Holy Cross School

Academics

Holy Cross School is an independent, co-educational Catholic school offering classes from Kindergarten to Grade 8, with an enrollment of approximately 400 students.

Established in 1928, Holy Cross School has been providing a Catholic education to students for nearly 100 years. For nearly a century, Holy Cross School has developed a tradition of excellence, which, in turn, has fostered the spiritual and academic growth of its students. From the inception of the parish, the importance of Catholic education was paramount, and parishioners were dedicated to their support of their children's education.

Students at Holy Cross School are educated according to the standards outlined by Manitoba Education and Early Childhood Education. This schooling is enriched through faith formation experiences, as well as participation in a variety of co-curricular and extracurricular activities, such as involvement in sports teams and clubs.

School Community and Outreach

Holy Cross School is part of a broader community that includes Holy Cross Parish and St. Boniface Diocesan High School, where many students from Holy Cross go on to attend high school.

The full-sized Holy Cross Gym is used for sport rentals, sporting events, and cultural activities.

Holy Cross School conducts several programs that involve community outreach. These programs not only help those in need, but they also give students the experience of helping others.

One ongoing program is the collection of pop can tabs for the purpose of purchasing an electronic wheelchair for a child in need. Each year, nearly 200 businesses and schools collect and donate pop tabs, which are dropped off at Holy Cross School, where they are processed and stored. Annually, at the end of June, a presentation of the wheelchair is made to the recipient and their family at their home school.

Other programs that the school is involved in are coordinated by Holy Cross Parish. Throughout the school year, students from Holy Cross School hold fundraising activities, collect food, money and or clothing for those in need and at Christmas time, help in the collection of items that are used to prepare Christmas hampers for those in need in the parish community.
