Morning Drop Off
Jan 26, 2024

Attention all parents,

This is a reminder that any students arriving prior to 8:15 in the morning must report to program and access the before school program using the gym doors located between our school and St. B. The front doors will not be opened to students prior to 8:30

Students arriving between 8:15 and 8:30 should report to the back parking lot where doors will open by 8:20 to let students into the building.

Students arriving after 8:30 can then access the front doors and sign in at the office as they will be marked late.

Thank you all for your attention to this matter and have a great weekend.

Weather Policy and Winter Clothing Update
Nov 24, 2023
Attention parents,

The winter is finally arriving and although we do not yet have a lot of snow the temperature is beginning to drop! Please be sure that you are sending your children in properly dressed for the colder weather. This should include hats, mitts, coats, and ski pants for the younger students. Thank you for your help in keeping our students warm and safe this winter!

As a reminder, our windchill policy is that students will be going outside for recess provided the temperature with the windchill does not exceed -27 degrees. -27 and colder, the students will have indoor recess but still need to come to school dressed for the weather as it may warm up throughout the day and the students may be able to go outside and need to be prepared for that.

Uniform Expectation Reminder
Oct 27, 2023

Dear Parents,

This is a reminder that the children are to be wearing the approved school uniform as described in our uniform policy.

Students in Kindergarten to Grade 8 are required to be in full school uniform (as described in section 2.1 below) each school day from the first day of school in September to the last week in June. Students may be required to wear their full uniform when they are away from the school and are acting as representatives of the school. Students are required to wear uniform items that are clean and in a state of good repair--torn, faded or discoloured items are not acceptable and must be replaced. New uniforms may be purchased from the Top Marks website www.topmarks.ca (school code: HOLO1) throughout the year, as necessary.

Just a reminder that if your child is coming to school wearing a short-sleeved shirt, and they are wearing a long-sleeved shirt underneath, please ensure that the long-sleeve shirt is plain and either white or light blue with NO designs on the sleeves.

2.1 Detailed Listing of School Uniform Clothing

ALL UNIFORM ITEMS LISTED BELOW MUST BE PURCHASED THROUGH TOP MARKS.

Students will not be allowed to wear uniform items purchased elsewhere, even if the garments come close to matching the school uniforms. Otherwise, the fairness of the school uniform policy is jeopardized.

Required Uniform Clothing

  • White or Medium Blue Golf Shirt crested with the Holy Cross School logo, OR
  • White Long Sleeve Oxford Shirt crested with the Holy Cross School logo
  • Navy Twill Pants

Parking Update For Pick up and Drop off
Oct 19, 2023
Attention parents:

Beginning Monday, October 23rd, 2023, for the morning and after school pick up/drop off times, the back lane behind the school, will be a one-way direction. See attached map. You MUST enter the lane off of Niverville Ave, drop off your child(ren), and exit onto Braemar Street. We need to begin this system as a safety measure for parents and Holy Cross School students.

Staff will be outside during AM and PM drop off/pick up times to assist with this transition. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and continued support.

ATTN Parents
Oct 18, 2023

Hello Parents, if you have any books that you aren’t in need of that could be donated to be used for home reading programs in the younger grades, they would be very much appreciated.  They can be brought into the school to the office.  Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Holy Cross Cellphone Expectations *UPDATE*
Oct 18, 2023

ATTN Parents:

While we understand the need for cell phones before school and after school for communication with your children, during the school day (8:30 AM-5:30 PM) cell phones are expected to remain in student lockers/backpacks. This includes walks to IA, before and after school program, field trips etc. There will be a designated table at before and after school program where tablets and iPads can be used for games ONLY.

If a cell phone is being used during the school day without staff permission it will be confiscated and returned to the student at the end of the school day.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
